RS Police Make Arrests and Seizures – BalkanInsight

Police in Republika Srpska have raided more than 30 locations in a new operation, codenamed “Ruben,” aimed at disrupting possible terrorist plots in the entity.

“Certain quantities of weapons, ammunition, bullet proof vests, uniforms and promotional materials for recruitment was found so far within the operation,” the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

It added that some of the arrested persons were believed to be members of Islamic formations fighting in Syria, or of groups which were recruiting Bosnians to fight in foreign battlefields.

The dragnet follows the April 27 attack on the police station in Zvornik in which one policeman was killed and two others were injured. The assailant, a 24-year-old alleged radical Islamist, was killed in the shootout.

While RS police have been working with SIPA to investigate the April 27 attack, SIPA told press that it had not been involved in these latest raids.
