Dodik Urges Serbs to Never Forget WWII Crimes – SRNA

Speaking at a commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for victims of the Jasenovac concentration camp, where the Croat Ustashe killed over 700,000 Serbs during World War II, Republika Srpska said that while Serbs never sought revenge, they would never forget or keep silent about the crimes committed against them.

“This is the place of sorrow, which can never be forgotten, because a crime like this one that happened here has never been seen anywhere,” said Dodik. In a comment that evoked very contemporary controversies, President Dodik continued, “Today, freedom is the only desire of all of us, and freedom has to be understood by all those who try to create our way of life here. Freedom was on the lips of those killed, because they longed for it, and somehow they conveyed the message to us, to defend our national symbols, our language, alphabet, and saint patron’s day.”
