Cvijanović meets with Pentagon official, U.S. congresswoman in Washington

Republika Srpska (RS) President Željka Cvijanović met Monday at the Pentagon with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper, and the two discussed political and security issues in BiH. According to a press release from President Cvijanović’s office, the president “emphasized the strong commitment of the institutions of [the RS] to the preservation of peace and stability and pointed out that the [RS] is determined to defend the Dayton Agreement and to fully protect its constitutional competencies.”

In that context, the President of Srpska pointed out that she appreciates the current cooperation with the United States in the field of security, expressing confidence that it will continue in the future, which the interlocutors confirmed and concluded that there is room for civil-military cooperation, especially in civil protection. and cyber security.

President Cvijanović also met, according to SRNA, with New York Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, a member of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee. At the working dinner with Congresswoman Tenney, President Cvijanović emphasized that the RS is committed to resolving open issues in BiH through dialogue while respecting the interests of BiH’s entities and constituent peoples.  

Cvijanović informed Tenney of the positions and status of Republika Srpska, pointing out that the consistent respect for the Dayton Peace Accords and the BiH Constitution are prerequisites for political stability and efficient functioning of joint institutions, says a press release from the Office of the Republika Srpska President.
