Ashton: EU to lead “structured dialogue” on BiH Judiciary in response to RS concerns

EU Foreign Affairs chief Catherine Ashton spoke today at a joint press conference with Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik in Banja Luka.

Ashton emphasized that the EU was committed to helping Bosnia through the EU accession process, and that in response to RS concerns about the fairness and legitimacy of the BiH State Court—an institution created by the Office of the High Representative for BiH—the EU would form a commission to address issues of Judicial reform.

Ashton’s remarks acknowledged that President Dodik has agreed to postpone or cancel the planned referendum on the State Court as a prerequisite to the initiation of “structured dialogue.”
