IMF Staff Concludes Visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina – IMF Press Release

After an International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff team visited Banja Luka and Sarajevo from March 7 to 17, the leader of the staff team, Mr. Nadeem Ilahi, issued a statement praising recent progress by the Entities and BiH institutions and calling for additional steps, including a “decision to limit the 2017 employment in the Institutions of BiH by the Council of Ministers.”

The team assessed performance against end-December 2016 program targets and discussed progress with structural reforms. The team was encouraged by the approval of sound 2017 budgets by the entities and the institutions of BiH, the passage of banking laws in both entities, and the amendments to the corporate income tax and banking agency laws, as well as the elimination of the solidarity contribution, in the Republika Srpska.
