Dodik Defends Referendum in Letter to International Community – RS

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik has sent a letter to several foreign embassies and representatives of the international community, explaining the legal basis of the planned referendum on OHR and the BiH judiciary. In the letter, Mr. Dodik reiterates that the RS “remains committed to continuing the European Union Structured Dialogue on Justice,” and to the internationally-supported effort to reform BiH and RS government reforms. He also stresses that “the referendum is not intended in any way to challenge the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina but to strengthen Dayton Agreement and solutions envisaged by that agreement.”

We urge all those in the international community who share our commitment to reform and international cooperation for improvement of the lives of our citizens to support our efforts and to resist those who would misrepresent and politicize our program for positive change.

Attached to the letter is a detailed analysis of the legal basis for the referendum, which can be found here.
