Sulejman Tihic, who has led the SDA since 2001, passes away on Thursday after a long struggle with cancer.
Tihic will be buried in his hometown of Bosanski Samac, the SDA confirmed on Thursday.
“The death of president Tihic is a great loss for the SDA, for Bosnia and Herzegovina and for all its citizens,” the deputy president of the SDA, Bakir Izetbegovic, said.
“Sulejman Tihic was a good man, an exemplary father and husband, a very responsible politician,” he added.
Following Tihic’s death, at a press conference on Thursday night in Sarajevo, Izetbegovic said the late party leader had made a great contribution to the re-integration of the country and to rebuilding trust among peoples.
