RS and Serbia Sign Cooperation Agreements – B92

Following a joint session of the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia, ministers from the two governments have signed a pair of agreements intended to increase cooperation.

Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Construction Minister Zorana Mihajlovic and Republika Srpska’s (RS) Minister for Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology Srebrenka Golic signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between the two ministries in Banja Luka on Thursday.

The Memorandum will facilitate the cooperation between construction companies, and the building of traditional Serb houses in RS. They signaled that the building of a bridge over the Drina River between Ljubovija and Bratunac could begin next spring.

That memorandum was followed on Friday by an agreement “on the joint entry to third markets.”

[Serbian Trade Minister Rasim] Ljajic noted that the agreement constitutes a step forward in improving relations between the two countries, adding that BiH is Serbia’s third largest export market and fourth largest trading partner.
The agreement also contributes to overall regional stability and sends a message that the Western Balkans could be a good investment destination, he said.

Ljajic said that the next step will be the drafting of an action plan to define fields of cooperation.
